A guide to making life a little more fabulous
The day before we were going to Hilary and Matt’s, I got a text message: Do you like broccoli? The answer, if you haven’t guessed, is yes.
Last week I read this article in the New York Times about how Americans don’t eat enough vegetables.
You may remember my French vanilla incident this summer.
I had some dried ancho chile peppers left over from making that Esquire oatmeal, and this recipe was on the package.
I love mashed potatoes, but I think Toby loves them even more.
Whether you call them cornmeal pancakes, hoecakes or Jen & Melissa cakes (I know, hilarious), these are delicious.
Sorry that swimming post was depressing.
The other day, my friend/co-worker Heidi sent me a grilled cheese slide show.
I usually wait a few days before posting things I’ve made (sometimes even longer), but I had to go ahead and show you these cupcakes I brought to work for Halloween.
I am still planning to make the hummingbird cake ASAP, but Toby and I are living in the Navy Lodge (a hotel) right now because our bedroom ceiling, walls and closet have been gutted/ripped out because of a leak.
Remember that apple slide show from Sunset magazine a few weeks ago? Just about everything on it looks good to me, but I made the apple corn muffins first.
There are a lot of foods I love at Thanksgiving: sweet potatoes, mashed potatoes, pumpkin pie, pecan pie.
So, remember the brunch situation for which I baked 9,000 gooey cinnamon rolls? I figured that wasn’t going to be enough for the four of us.
Well, the weather outside is frightful.
Lemon bars don’t necessarily scream “Christmas,” but they are so good that it doesn’t really matter.
So, are you getting in the holiday spirit yet? Baking any cookies? Going to cookie exchanges? Getting tangled in your Christmas lights? Yelling at people who take your space in the Nordstrom parking lot? Anything? Someone (ahem) got rid of our artificial.
We can’t all afford Blair Waldorf’s fabulous clothes.
